Special Containment Procedures:
SCPA-EN-00230 is to be contained in a standard large object containment locker at Site-███ when not in use. When testing SCPA-00230, personnel must wear protective gear, including gloves and goggles, to avoid contact with the object. Access to SCPA-EN-00230 requires Level-2 clearance and must be approved by at least two Level-3 personnel.

Description:
SCPA-EN-00230 is a small, transparent glass orb filled with a constantly shifting mixture of sands in various shades of beige and brown. SCPA-EN-00230 exhibits a unique property, whereby it is capable of phasing matter through solid objects. When SCPA-EN-00230 is placed against a solid object and twisted, the sand within the orb begins to vibrate, quickly causing the object to become intangible.

Initial testing revealed that SCPA-EN-00230's phasing effect extends outward approximately 1.5 meters. However, tests also revealed that this area may be spread throughout multiple, non-contiguous spaces that SCPA-EN-00230 phases, meaning that the affected space resembles a cube or an hourglass shape rather than a cylinder. The phasing lasts approximately 30 seconds, after which the object becomes solid again.

SCPA-EN-00230 was recovered during an archaeological dig in the ██████ desert, where it was found buried beneath the sands. Locals reportedly avoided the area due to legends of "moving sands," though none of these claims were substantiated until the Foundation's discovery of SCPA-EN-00230.

Direct contact with SCPA-EN-00230 is discouraged, as physical contact with solid matter that is phased through has the potential to cause severe injury or death.
