Special Containment Procedures:
SCPA-EN-00171 is to be kept in a standard containment locker at Site-██. Access is to be granted only to Level 2 personnel or above. All testing with SCPA-EN-00171 must be approved by at least two Level 3 personnel, and subject to the presence of on-site Foundation security.

Description:
SCPA-EN-00171 is a ballpoint pen, with the words "Soul Stealing Pen" inscribed in crimson letters. The ink and the main body of the pen are both made of an unidentified metal alloy, resistant to electromagnetic fields and high temperatures. No identifying markings or manufacturer’s logo is present. SCPA-EN-00171 is capable of drawing characters and lines that appear to be normal black ink from a cartridge within the pen. However, when a person's name is written with SCPA-EN-00171 on any material, that person's consciousness will be transferred to the pen for an indeterminate period determined by the date written by the wielder of the pen.

While a person's consciousness is inside SCPA-EN-00171, the person's physical body will enter a comatose state, and the consciousness will be unable to communicate or perceive the outside world. While inside SCPA-EN-00171, the consciousness will be able to perceive a mental space, where it appears to be surrounded by various pens, blank sheets of paper, and dried ink pots. The consciousness will be able to interact with these items but will be unable to escape SCPA-EN-00171 without outside intervention.

The consciousness of a person stored inside SCPA-EN-00171 will eventually lose its memories and personality, replacing them with a deep obsession with writing. Upon leaving SCPA-EN-00171, consciousnesses who have been stored within may display unique artistic and literary skills beyond any known previous abilities.

Additional Information:
SCPA-EN-00171 came to the Foundation's attention after reports of an abnormally large number of missing writers and artists began circulating in the vicinity of a small town in Japan. SCPA-EN-00171 was discovered inside of the studio of [REDACTED], a previously successful writer and artist in the town who was found in a catatonic state. All other individuals within the town who reported seeing SCPA-EN-00171 in the possession of the artist have been administered Class B amnestics.
