SCPA-EN-00132: The Mimic Molecule
SCPA-EN-00132 Report
Item #: SCPA-EN-00132
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCPA-EN-00132 is to be kept in a sealed storage locker at Biological Containment Site-66. Access to SCPA-EN-00132 requires Level 2 clearance and a written request must be submitted 72 hours in advance. Any experiment or handling of SCPA-EN-00132 must be approved by at least one Site Manager.
Description:
SCPA-EN-00132 is a polymeric protein, approximately 50 nm in size, with a unique ability to mimic or copy the properties of other molecules on the cellular level. SCPA-EN-00132 is capable of fully adopting, and even changing, the properties of molecules it comes into contact with. SCPA-EN-00132's surface is able to recognize and copy the structure of molecules, changing its own composition to that of the molecules it is "mimicking."
Additional Information:
SCPA-EN-00132 cannot mimic the properties of extremely large or complex molecules, such as certain types of proteins, pathogens, or cells, but it is able to mimic smaller molecules such as simple sugars, amino acids and small peptides. When SCPA-EN-00132 mimics a molecule, it is able to interact with other cellular components the way those molecules normally would, leading to changes in cellular processes.
SCPA-EN-00132 was discovered in a research laboratory at [REDACTED] University, during the testing of a cure for cancer. Research showed that SCPA-EN-00132 played a key role in the mechanism of the cure, but it had not been included in the original patent or disclosed to the public, violating SCPA-EN-00132's containment status. The Foundation took control of SCPA-EN-00132 and administered amnestics to all involved parties.
References:
Research documents and experiments related to SCPA-EN-00132, including the original research findings and the patent for the cancer cure, are to be kept under the same level of containment protocol as SCPA-EN-00132 itself.
Classification level:
Level 2 (Secret)
Notice:
SCPA-EN-00132 should not be exposed to any hazardous or unknown substances, as any unknown substances mimicked by SCPA-EN-00132 could cause unexpected interactions. Any experiments involving SCPA-EN-00132 should be carried out with caution and a full risk assessment performed beforehand. Any changes or modifications to the containment protocols must be approved by at least one Site Manager.
